6 Week Course in Mindful Living

What does the 6 Week Course in Mindful Living cover?

The 6 Week Course in Mindful Living is an abbreviated version of  internationally recognised Mindfulness-Based-Stress-Reduction (MBSR) programme developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn and offers a practical and experiential introduction to a range of Mindfulness practices. Participants are guided through sitting, walking and lying down mindfulness meditations; group participation and the opportunity to share personal experiences (if one wishes) offers one another support and fun, an opportunity to move towards greater awareness, engagement and balance, gain confidence, cultivate compassion and recognise strengths.

What commitment does the Course in Mindful Living involve?

  • 2 hours and 15 minutes class once a week for 6 weeks
  • One experiential all day Saturday workshop (10am to 4pm) during the final few weeks
  • Course workbook and 2 guided meditations CDs.
To fully benefit from the course, participants need to commit to engaging in about 40 minutes of daily home practice on all non-class days for the duration of the course.
Like learning to play a new instrument, it takes time and practice to develop the habit of Mindfulness and involves both formal (time set aside for mental attention exercises) and informal mindfulness practice (just becoming aware of what we are doing when we are doing it).
