Building Resilience Case Study

An international pharmaceutical company engaged Mindfulness at Work to train some of their people in more effective ways of working and dealing in a high performance environment. They could see that pressure and stress were taking a toll. The company were committed to improving the everyday life of their patients and they understood that the personal effectiveness of each employee is critical to achieving that purpose. We were asked to design and deliver a Mindfulness programme to help participants build resilience and develop more effective coping strategies to improve wellness and performance.

The solution combined:

  1. Keynote group introduction to explore benefits of training and encourage participation
  2. Weekly group Mindfulness Training sessions of 1.5 hours duration over 8 sequential modules
  3. Daily mindfulness practice – 10 to 20 minutes formal plus informal practice
  4. Final evaluation

100% of participants reported significant improvements in:

  • Focus on task
  • Coping under pressure – have tools to self manage
  • Problem solving, creativity
  • Ability to prioritise and enhance personal productivity
  • Self awareness and social awareness
  • Communication skill with colleagues, clients
  • Resilience and ability to ‘bounce back’ from challenges.

100% of participants reported significant decreases in:

  • Stress
  • Reactive / rash behaviour
  • Exhaustion
  • Negativity.

100% of participants rated Joanne O’Malley, Mindfulness at Work as very good to excellent.
