MBSR Background
This is the gold-standard in mindfulness training, bringing together the internationally recognised Mindfulness-Based-Stress-Reduction (MBSR) programme developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn and the later adapted Mindfulness-Based-Cognitive-Therapy (MBCT) programme.
The course gives a practical and experiential introduction to a range of Mindfulness practices. Participants learn to wake up to their present moment experience, instead of the tendency we have of being lost in the past (regret, rumination) or in the future (worry or overthinking).
The practice of Mindfulness is ancient, thousands of years old. It originated in Buddhism as a practical way to alleviate self induced suffering caused by the dysfunctional ways we tend to routinely deal with experience. In the late 70s, Jon Kabat-Zinn developed the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course by adapting Mindfulness for a secular and scientific context. So, it is a totally practical course requiring no allegiance to any belief system. Vast scientific research shows huge benefits in physical, mental health and emotional health in diverse contexts, business, education, sports etc.
