Brother David Steindl-Rast says that the one thing all humans have in common is that each of us wants to be happy.
And happiness is born from gratitude. We may think that when we are happy, we are grateful but actually it works the other way – when we are grateful, we are happy.
So, how can you cultivate living gratefully? Just by becoming aware that each moment is an opportunity to be present… to open your senses to what is given to us … that we miss… nature, the sky, fresh water, electricity … each moment there are opportunities to be grateful.
So, his invitation is: Slow down or stop, look where you are going and be grateful for the opportunity of this moment…
It’s an inspiring lesson in remembering to slow down and savour each moment and become joyful.
